Zakir Hussain's Nirvana 2014 featuring Shankar Mahadevan, Taufiq Qureshi, Louis Banks and Niladri Ku

After an unforgettable live performance last year, Grammy Award Winner Zakir Hussain is back for yet another captivating night of transcendent world music. This time, he will share his stage with grand vocalist Shankar Mahadevan, master of percussions Taufiq Qureshi, Jazz legend Louis Banks and Sitar Sensation Niladria Kumar, for Nirvana 2014.
Widely considered a chief architect of the contemporary world music movement, Hussain has collaborated with world renowned artists, from John McLaughlin, to Van Morrison and Pharoah Sanders, and was the first artist ever to receive the “Best Contemporary World Music” Grammy Award. His music ranges from classic to modern, from rhythmic to spiritual and has taken the world at large as nothing short of an international phenomenon.
The Nirvana performances have a unique allure, as these world class artists seldom perform together, hence delivering a performance of often unrecorded music, whose magic will only be felt by that particular audience. This year, with such an array of “crème de la crème” artists, audiences can expect a fusion of Classical Indian, Eastern, Jazz, Folk, Folk Rock and World Music.
The concert will take place on January 25th at the Madinat Arena, from 8.30pm onwards (doors open at 7pm). Tickets are priced at Platinum VVIP: AED1750 (sold out), Platinum: AED1500 (reserved seating), Diamond: AED1000, Gold: AED600, Silver: AED200.
