"I've never felt so comfortable about who I am as an artist and what I want to do," she smiles. "The longer I do this the more in control I feel and the easier I find it to just make things happen. This time I knew exactly the kind of record I wanted to make, and I made it." Go on then, you cry; what kind of record are we talking about then? Well, one which doths its cap to the musical evolution that has taken place over a career spanning nearly 15 years, confirming her iconic place amongst pop royalty; a legendary and quintessentially British siren and starlet. A 4/4 kick-drum pounds from the album's heart, it is, as Sophie confesses, "something of a dancefloor record". But over it's 14 tracks there are flashes of all the faces that've endeared her to three decades of fans, from the powdery English rose and the pouting indie gal to the all-conquering disco diva that can still be found pitching up camp at the top of the hit parade. It's a beaming emancipation too, as Sophie finds herself breaking forth from the major label shackles that lots of artists are realizing the ever-increasing irrelevance of, amongst a star-studden line-up of collaborators, including amongst others Calvin Harris, Greg Kurstin (Lily Allen), chart-dance supremos The Freemasons, and acclaimed leftfield genius Joe Mount of Metronomy. At a time when the chart feels like it's chasing its own tail more than ever, Sophie's yet again reminding the nation what a true unique pop artiste feels like. It's funny that it has taken to album number four for Sophie to proclaim Her Dance Record. Considering the fact her name has emblazoned some of the most memorable sugar-coated dance smashes of the Noughties. "I remember doing an interview with Steven Wells for the NME about ten months before 'Groovejet' came out and he ended it by saying: 'She'd be better off ditching The Audience and doing a dance-pop album,' she recalls of her reluctant trip from the crest of the indie underground into the headlights of the top spot of pop. "I felt so annoyed because I was a proper indie kid. I still remember the conversation with my old manager after playing him 'Groovejet' and saying I wanted to release it. Fair play to him, 'He wished me the best and sent me on my way.'" Hindsight, eh? As is turned out it was a nicely placed move for our heroine. The 2001 Balearic anthem was a Number 1 round the world, and took her to the superclubs of Ibiza and onward into the loftiest pop pastures. A relentless succession of hits meant that before long the once petulant rock'n'roller was one of the most synonymous names twirling their way around the upper-echelons of the hit parade. From the inescapable refrains of classics like 'Murder On The Dancefloor' and 'Take Me Home' to the mischievous magic of 'Get Over You' and wistful chants of 'Mixed Up World', it was evident these shores were making space for another untouchable hit-maker. But more than that, one of the most elegant songstresses to have ever graced the glossies. "I see it a mandatory part of the whole popstar thing," she says. "I can't see why anyone would want to get onstage wearing what they had on at breakfast. Any excuse to dress-up and I'll jump at it two-footed." Her love affair with fashion sees her inimitable china doll looks gracing the front rows of the best Fashion Week shows and splayed across gigantic billboard campaigns year-in-year out; an inimitable and instinctive sense of style that's cut an unforgettable figure against the face of pop music. Ask Sophie which songs on 'Make A Scene' make her smile the most, there's one sound, and set of sound merchants, that jumps to her lips. "One of the Freemasons tracks, it'd have to be," she nods. "Yes, they can make one might term 'bangers', but they also have the most amazing pop sensibility; the way they treat the vocals and melodies is something pretty special." Of all the Freemasons/Bextor collabs the first single 'Heartbreak (Make Me a Dancer) is The One, if you cruelly had to pick. It was the first hit to herald this return, and mission statement of her uncompromising party agenda: all eerie vocal spooks and and pounding Italo disco beats, with a vintage soaring SEB chorus to boot, of course. 'Revolution' is a an absolutely storming introduction, a cavalcade of thundering kick-drums and lightening-strike vocal hooks that dart from the shadows, "It's got that urgency that comes in handy when you're getting glammed-up on a Friday night." Whereas 'Homewrecker', the other song written out in LA with Greg Kurstin - the Ivor Novello winner collaborator of Lily Allen, Kylie, and Little Boots- is a vivid little ball of quirky melodies and snappy narratives, "Run a long get your own get your own guy", she hisses with ice maiden magic. Calvin Harris shows up to the party on 'Off and On', exactly the kind of technicolour lektro-disco joyride that made him one of the biggest names in British chart-dance, and a shining moment for Madmoiselle EB with helluva hypnotic chant of main refrain that'll have La Roux turnin' green. A special mention must also go to the title track, a lovable shonky odd-pop gem, where Sophie's distinct whispers glide around the weird world of Metronomy auteur Joe Mount, a daring, triumphant move on the wildest album of her career. ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀ ★★★DJ LINE UP ★DJ MITCHELL★ ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀ ★ENTRANCE POLICIES★ ★STRICTLY GUEST LIST AND TABLE BOOKING FOR GUEST LIST ENTRY CALL 055 17 44 449 , FOR TABLE RESERVATION CALL 050 56 55 427. ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀ ★★EVENT DETAILS★★ Location: MOVIDA DUBAI-RADIOSSON HOTEL SHEIKH ZAYED ROAD Timing: DOORS OPEN AT 10PM Music: 6 HOURS OF DANCE MUSIC Dress Code: Fashionable Age Limit: +21 ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀ ★FOR RESERVATION AND INFORMATION CALL★ ★055 17 44 449★ ★050 56 55 427★ Info@Alchemy-Project.com www.Alchemy-Project.com ★PRODUCED & ORGANIZED BY ★ >ALCHEMY PROJECT-Event Management Agency ★IN COLLABORATION WITH ★ >MOVIDA DUBAI ★ SPONSORED BY★ >CREATIVE STUDIO 360 ★ ARTIST MANAGEMENT & BOOKING BY★ >AAA-AlchemyProject Artist Agency ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀ ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀ ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀ ★ALCHEMY PROJECT-Event Management Agency★ ★www.Alchemy-Project.com★
