Ebony Thomas also known as Ebony Bones is a British actress, singer, songwriter and record producer. Ebony’s acting career started at the age of 12, when she was spotted by BAFTA award winning actor and artistic director of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre Mark Rylance, for his production of Macbeth also starring actress Jane Horrocks. Known for playing the role of resident “glamour-puss” Yasmin McHugh on the five TV drama Family Affairs from 1998 until 2005. She was one of the programe’s youngest, longest-serving and most popular cast members, known for both her own and her character’s fashion sense. In 2002, 2003 and 2004, Thomas was nominated for the British Soap Awards Sexiest female. In 2004 and 2005, Thomas was nominated for The British Soap Awards “Best Comedy Actor”. Thomas reinvented herself as a musician under the name Ebony Bones. She writes produces, plays her own instruments and sings all her own material. She performed live at the Glastonbury Festival in June 2007. Most recently Bones single “ We Know All About U” was made both Single of the Week and The Hottest Record In The World Today by BBC Radio 1’s most played single by an unsigned artist. Her limited edition single Don’t Fart On My Heart won Best Video by The British Council for the Onedotzero Festival. She has appeared in publications as i-D, NME, Q, The Guardian, The Observer and Entertainment Weekly. Having toured with The Slits and performing for Massive Attack’s Meltdown Festival at The Royal Festival Hall, Ebony Bones has again appeared at the 2008 Glastonbury Festival headlined by Jay-Z. On the 24th of August 2008 Ebony Bones performed live in New York for the Barak Obama concert held at The McCarren Park Pool.
