Red Bull Music Academy Presents DâM-FunK

Dubai 23 August 2015: Red Bull Music Academy proudly presents, for the first time in Dubai, LA’s very own DâM-FunK (Stones Throw Records, USA).

On Friday, September 18, 2015, one of the world’s most respected artists in the world of beats, funk, boogie, hip hop and disco’s modern day culture, DâM-FunK will take the stage at The Music Room, Majestic Hotel in Bur Dubai. DâM-FunK will be performing a solo live show and DJ set consisting of multiple synths, synth guitar, vocoder, vocals, samples and live beats.

DâM-FunK will be performing from his latest album Invite The Light, out on Stones Throw in September 2015, as well delving into his vast repertoire with some of his classic tracks. Dam’s partnership with Stones Throw has seen the release of his debut Toeachizown (2009) and Invite the Light (2015), as well as an anthology of early productions, Adolescent Funk (2010), to Higher( 2013) with Steve Arrington and 7 Days of Funk (2013) with Snoop Dogg.

On warm up duty is Dubai’s hottest new talent MUHAISNAH FOUR, who will be performing with his 3-piece band, his signature sound of beats, indietronic and wonky goodness. Dubai’s Dust Crew’s very own DJ’s Megadon Betamax and James Locksmith will be laying down the deepest in funk, boogie, disco and hip hop records, between performances.

Damon “Dam-Funk” Riddick is the epitome of funk. Ever since debuting with Stones Throw in 2008, Dam-Funk has become one of the genres most passionate proselytizers, out to save it from devilish depictions of cartoonish caricature. To Dam, funk is a way of living, “a feeling of struggle and staying cool through it all.”
