American Virtuosity: Gil Shaham
The globally-esteemed US violinist Gil Shaham arrives in Dubai on Monday 14th April, taking to the stage of Dubai Opera to present a concert as part of the 14th InClassica International Music Festival, organised by SAMIT Event Group. One of the foremost violinists of our time, Shaham’s flawless technique combined with his inimitable warmth and generosity of spirit has solidified his renown as an American master, with the maestro counting more than two dozen concerto and solo CDs to his name, earning him multiple Grammys, a Grand Prix du Disque, Diapason d’Or, Gramophone Editor’s Choice, the 1990 Avery Fisher Career Grant, and 2008 Avery Fisher Prize, amongst other achievements that include him being named as “Instrumentalist of the Year” by Musical America in 2012. For this appearance at InClassica, which marks the first of two concerts that the violinist will be presenting during this edition of the festival, Shaham will be joined by the Franz Schubert Filharmonia, who will be performing under the baton of the acclaimed Spanish conductor Tomàs Grau, as they look to delight UAE audiences with some of the most beloved entries in the classical repertoire.
