-------- ART AFTER DARK - AEROSOL ART & STREET ART SERIES -------- LIVE ART & EXHIBITION BY REY ONE 6PM - MIDNIGHT REY ONE Biography: Rey steps in the graffiti world in 1989 through hip hop culture in Geneva, Switzerland. He first starts with wild illegal street tagging, as well as full color pieces and murals. In 1990, with three other graffiti writers, he creates the EDK crew. Since its first creation, EDK crew’s style has been inspired by the traditional New York style school of Graffiti from the 1980’s subway era. In 1991, Rey moves to the USA in order to study the true art of graffiti at its source, as well as entering an art school in visual communications. It is during this period that he meets many other American artists, which some of then integrate the EDK crew, in order to create a US chapter. From 1991 til 1995, Rey lives in Seattle where he paints an average of 2 to 3 murals a week. During these years, Rey travels frequently all over the US. He also goes back to Europe about 2 months a year where he travels to paint through Germany and France. In 1995, Rey is back in Switzerland. In 1997 he moves to New York and lives in the Bronx. During that time he continues his art studies, as well as painting on a regular basis. In 2002, he moves back to Switzerland. During these ten years living in the USA, Rey lives and breathes hip hop culture and graffiti writing to the fullest, while connecting with many hip hop legends and activists. Rey is mostly specialised in letterings. Indeed, it is the typographical aspect of graffiti which motivates him, constantly obsessed by the perfection of the letterform. Rey painted more than a thousand murals and pieces around the world (USA, Canada, Switzerland, France, Germany, UK, Norway, Holland, Thailand, etc…) and on all supports (walls, trains, etc…) After 25 years of non-stop underground graffiti , Rey now hits the Art Gallery scene, while always preserving his authentic pure graffiti approach.
