BOURGEOIS GENTILHOMME

Rich bourgeois, Mr. Jourdain intends to acquire the manners of quality people. He decides to order a new coat more in line with his new
condition and startslearning arms, dance, music and philosophy, all of which seem indispensable to him as a gentleman. He is courting
Dorimene, a widowed Marquise, brought under her roof by her lover, an authoritarian count, who intends to profit by the naivete of M.
Jourdain and Dorimene. His wife and Nicole, his maid, make fun of him, then worry about seeing him as envious, and try to bring him back to
the reality of the next marriage of his daughter Lucile with Cléonte. But the latter being not a gentleman, Mr. Jourdain refuses this union.
Cléonte then decides to enter the game of dreams of nobility of Mr. Jourdain, and with the help of his valet Covielle, he pretends to be the
son of the Grand Turk. He thus obtained the consent of Mr. Jourdain, who believes himself to have reached the highest nobility after being
promoted "Mamamouchi" in a burlesque Turkish ceremony organized by Covielle's accomplices.

In the early morning, the day after Ball Opera, returning home Dr. Moulineaux does not doubt that he will dress a few hours later. How? For
who ? Why ? Because "for a doctor to do his medicine is commonplace" and especially because it's Feydeau! To hide the beginning of an
affair with one of his clients, Dr. Moulineaux launches into a cascade of lies, pirouettes and cover-ups in the face of his wife, his mother-in-
law, the husband of his mistress, the lover of the latter was once his. By dint of rebounding everything ends to the general satisfaction.
