Concert Series Season 19 | Jae Franklin 'Cheers To Life' Album Launch

January is the month of new beginnings, so what better time to launch the album of ‘Cheers to Life’ by Jae Franklin. Her distinct voice and unique style have been praised by ‘Potholes in My Blog’ as “sultry crooning” with ‘Soulbounce’ differentiating Jae as a songstress “piercing through and creating her own lane” with “shades of candor built upon layers of unfiltered talent.”

But as you’d expect with any launch at The Fridge, we don’t allow artists to just press play and sit back with a detoxing smoothie and a stick of celery. Jae invites the likes of DJ Allad to spin on the decks whilst accompanied by celebrated drummer and bassist Terence Lorick.

This plays out more like a fully immersive sensory experience, with recorded tracks melded with live percussion and vocal performances to create a multi-dimensional, multi-media mind-mash.

Add to this the contemporary poetry provided by special guest Dorian Paul Rogers and you are in for an evening that defies mainstream categorisation.

Our advice is to turn up at Alserkal Avenue on the evening of January 18th to be treated to something which bends the boundaries of perceived performance protocol and will have you raising a glass saying ‘Cheers to Life’.

Someone really should make that the name for their album.
