Expo 2020 is the first Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) region.

Opening its doors on October 1st, 2021, this iconic site which is twice the size of Monaco, will host more than 190 countries, showcasing the best in technology, innovation, arts, culture, music, food, and architecture for 6 months until March 31st, 2022.

COVID-19 SAFETY MEASURES AT EXPO 2020 DUBAI 

Expo 2020 Dubai follows guidance from the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention and Dubai Health Authority and the latest information and advice from the World Health Organization. 

An Expo ticket is required to attend any of the events at Expo. Visitors must be vaccinated or have a negative PCR to enter the site. You may be asked for proof of identity at the gate.

Keeping you safe: measure and precautions 

  • Thermal cameras at arrival points

  • Face masks to be worn at all times by visitors and staff

  • Two-meter social distancing regulations

  • Regular cleaning and sanitization of the venues and common areas

  • Hand-sanitizer station positioned at regular intervals around the site

  • Appropriate facilities and specialist staff to manage any potential medical issues on site

Ensuring social distancing 

  • Capacity limit to control the maximum number of people permitted in  venues

  • Floor markings to encourage social distancing in areas where visitors could queue or congregate

  • Signage and posters throughout the site that reinforces the importance of social distancing

  • Designated staff who will be responsible for monitoring and regulating social distancing across the site

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I need to be vaccinated or have a PCR test to enter the site?
Visitors ages 18 and over will be required to show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination recognized by their national government or a negative PCR test taken within the previous 72 hours.
Non-vaccinated ticket-holders who have not been tested within this period can use the testing facility adjacent to the Expo 2020 site. It takes around four hours to get the results. The PCR test will be free of charge on the presentation of any valid Expo 2020 ticket.  

Where is Expo 2020 Dubai and what methods of transport can I take to get there?
Measuring 4.38 sqkm, the Expo 2020 site is located in the Dubai South district. It is close to Al Maktoum International Airport and within easy reach of Dubai International Airport, Abu Dhabi International Airport, and Dubai and Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminals. The site also has its own Metro station, capable of transporting 22,000 passengers per hour in each direction.  

What accessibility features are available for people of determination?
Expo 2020 has considered a wide range of measures to ensure we deliver an accessible Expo for everyone. A variety of services will be offered onsite, including rentals of wheelchairs and electric convenience vehicles.  

I am coming with my baby/toddler. Do you have changing rooms/facilities, a nursing room, or strollers for rent?
In our Visitor Centres, we have dedicated family toilets, breastfeeding rooms equipped with bottle-warming facilities, and changing and shower facilities in all male/female restrooms. Strollers are available for rent at Information Points, which are located by the four main entrance gates and throughout the Expo 2020 site.  

Which items are not allowed at the site?
The following items are restricted from being transported in to or near the Expo site, including any items that Expo 2020 or Expo determine at their discretion to be similar:
(i) Professional filming equipment, professional photography equipment with lenses larger than 30 cm
(ii) Food and beverage items (except infant food and beverage, special dietary items)
(iii) Any device with a laser beam/laser pointers or strobe lights
(iv) Animals (except service and assistance animals, e.g. guide dogs)
(v) Devices producing excessive noise (e.g. vuvuzelas, drums, whistles, horns) that may affect comfort and safety
(vi) Rigid poles and sticks (except walking sticks required for mobility reasons)
(vii) Signage and banners
(viii) Religious, political, provocative, or obscene messaging on clothing
(ix) Items too large to be electronically screened
(x) Any items intended for use in ambush marketing attempts
(xi) Any items bearing the Expo 2020 logo, trade name, and/or any kind of trademarks that are suspected to be counterfeit
(xii) Drones and unmanned aerial vehicles.
Expo 2020 reserves the right to amend this list at its sole and absolute discretion.  

Do I have to print my e-ticket(s) or can I have it on my phone?
You can print your ticket or simply have it on your phone. We’ll just need you to zoom into the QR code of your e-ticket on your mobile phone  

Do I need to show identification to enter the Expo 2020 Dubai site?
We recommend that all visitors have proof of identification and eligibility with them at all times. Expo 2020 has the right to refuse admission to visitors who are unable to present valid identification.  

What forms of identification can I use to enter the Expo 2020 Dubai site?
For visitors from outside the UAE:
- Original and valid passport with name, image and birth date clearly mentioned
- Original Student ID with name and image for Student Tickets; if the ID doesn’t have a photo please take your passport too  

For visitors from within the UAE:
- Original and valid passport with name, image and birth date clearly mentioned
- Emirates ID
- Original Student ID with name and image for Student Tickets; if the ID doesn’t have a photo please take your passport or Emirates ID too    

If I leave Expo, can I re-enter on the same day?
Site re-entries on the same day are valid on all tickets - you can go in and out as often as you like.  

What and when are Expo’s peak days?
Currently, there are three official peak periods:
- UAE’s Golden Jubilee, from 3 November 2021 to 4 December 2021
- Christmas, from 20-28 December 2021
- New Year’s Eve on 31 December 2021
These days are subject to change and will be updated here.  

I want to visit during one of Expo’s peak days, what do I need to do?
Visits on certain days will require prior reservation, such as days when large events take place as well as other days of national and international significance. You can reserve your spot and manage your booking by logging in to your Expo account and going to your profile’s ‘Manage orders’ page. This feature will be available by September 2021.  

For how long are my tickets valid?
All Expo 2020 Dubai tickets can be used to enter the site from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022. However, 1-Day Tickets are valid for single use; Multi-Day Passes are valid for unlimited entries for 30 consecutive days from the first day of use, between 1 October 2021 and 31 March 2022  

What is Expo 2020's refund policy?
Expo 2020 Dubai has a strict no refunds policy, and all ticket types are non-transferable after first use.  

I didn’t buy my ticket from the Expo 2020 website. How do I link it to my Expo account?
First, you’ll need to log in or create your Expo account. Then, on your profile’s ‘Manage orders’ page, type your ticket number. Click ‘Add new ticket’ and that’s it, your ticket will be linked.
