The Concert
Three masters of Romantic music, three distinct expressions of joy, passion and virtuosity. The UAE National Orchestra explores the brilliance of Rossini, Mendelssohn, and Brahms in a programme that celebrates the remarkable emotional range of orchestral music.
With Umberto Clerici conducting, the evening unfolds through contrasting musical worlds. The playful wit of opera gives way to the expressive intensity of a solo violin before the Orchestra embraces the warmth and sweeping beauty of a full symphony.
From light-hearted charm to profound emotion, each composition offers a different perspective on the Romantic era, revealing the artistry of the performers and the distinctive character of the music.
The Music
In celebration of World Opera Day, Rossini's overture to The Barber of Seville opens the programme with the composer's unmistakable humour, lively melodies, and theatrical flair.
Stunning Hungarian violinist Júlia Pusker makes her UAE National Orchestra debut, performing Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in the orchestra's premiere presentation of the work. Its demanding solo passages call for exceptional virtuosity, while the playful, quicksilver accompaniment creates a spirited exchange between violin and orchestra.
Brahms' Second Symphony brings the evening to a warm and joyous close. Often regarded as his sunniest symphony, it combines warmth, lyrical richness, and a sense of joy, completing the programme's journey towards a triumphant orchestral finale and affirming its place among the great achievements of symphonic music.
