Ismat apa ke naam

Ismat Khanum Chughtai is one of the pioneers of Urdu literature. She was an excellent storyteller and novelist, whose works are known to be more radical, incisive and bolder than other writers of her times. She was considered by some as a crusader for the rights of oppressed women. Some of the earliest feminist writing in Urdu can probably be credited to her.
 
Ismat Apa ke Naam (Part 2) Kambakth Bilkul Aurat, is a collection of three stories - Amar Bel, Nanhi ki Naani & Do Haath. The play is directed by the legendry Naseeruddin Shah and narrated live on stage by Manoj Pawah, Lovleen Mishra & Seema Pawah.
 
Amar Bel is the story of this husband whose wife’s mesmerizing beauty, who he was an admirer of initially, gradually turns into a sap sucking Cuscuta reflexa, the immortal vine for him because even though he gets on a decline of health and looks, her beauty gets more enchanting with time.
 
Nanhi ki Naani is the story of this woman who having lost everything in life and presumed dead many a times by people, keeps surviving only to be killed by an act which one would, otherwise, not categorize as worth life taking.
 
Do Haath is the story of a pair of hands, just a pair of hands and nothing but a pair of hands. Two hands, which add up to the support system of a being, cannot be categorized as legitimate or illegitimate for, it’s the only support there is.
