Jashn-e-Awadh 2016

Jashn-e-Awadh’ is a celebration of the legendary Music and Dance of Lucknow that flourished under the patronage of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah.

Wajid Ali Shah, better known as the last king of Awadh, was a passionate and talented artiste himself. A gifted poet, playwright, dancer and musician, he is credited for reviving and popularising Kathak, a renowned Indian classical dance form. Light classical music, like Thumri and Ghazal flourished in his passionate mehfils. Lucknow truly became an epitome of art and culture under his regime.

‘Jashn-e-Awadh’ is a musical tribute to this king of classical arts! Using complimenting shades of music, dance and drama, the show presents a contemporary narrative on Lucknow's musical heritage.
