I have been involved in theatre for most of my life. This is me being a critical friend:
The play itself was totally underwhelming, although the general driving idea was a strong one. Not at all what I expected.
The only good part was the actor who played the teenager. She is obviously talented and somehow, to her credit, managed to take on her role with a natural composure.
Other than that:
The script should have been reviewed by experienced people, rewritten in most parts and refined.
Poor execution overall with mediocre attempts at humour.
My first disappointment at The Junction. Hope it is my last.

It was very organised

A few months ago, regular power outages (“blackouts”) started taking place. During these blackouts, women and girls disappear. A 16-year-old schoolgirl seeks a woman’s help to find her friend, who disappeared a few weeks ago. Through a series of confrontations, and with blackouts still taking place, these two strangers try to understand just what is going on.

As the play contains mature content and occasional strong language, it is suitable for those aged 15 years and higher.

Please note that portions of the performance take place in darkness.

Immediately after the 2 pm matinee performance on Sunday, May 29, there will be a free and optional Q&A session with the director and cast that audience members are welcome to attend.
