PALESTINIAN CHARITY GIG

On Tuesday, 23rd April, I am hosting a gig, together with the support of the amazing local band EYE, (Empty Yard Experiment), who opened for Evanescence last year and more recently for Metallica in Abu Dhabi this Friday. All proceeds will go to the Hope Flowers School in Palestine. With Gulf4Good, on the 26th of April, I will be hiking from Nablus to Jerusalem via Jericho, to raise funds for the Hope Flowers School. An independent, non-political, co-ed school in Bethlehem providing education to refugee and disadvantaged children, aged 4 to 15, founded by the late Hussein Ibrahim Issa. (“Peace Campaigner” - born September 1947; died March 5th 2000) Although many of the children educated at HFS' suffer trauma or learning disabilities or have special needs. The school fosters a programme that has all children mix together at all times, bar extreme necessity. From education to play, children work together and are encouraged to not see limitations in their other family members. 100% of all money raised will go towards the building of a second floor extension to the existing building. The extension will include disabled access toilets, physiotherapy and occupational therapy facilities and special education classrooms, plus a large lift for access. The Hope Flowers educational philosophy dedicated to peace and democratic education. Founder, Issa, thought that the Palestinian-Israeli conflict can only be solved non-violently if Palestinians create a new generation believing in peace, coexistence and respect for each others' rights.
