Vincent, well into his forties, is about to become a father for the first time. Invited to dinner at his sister's and brother-in-law's house, he meets up with Claude, a childhood friend.

The evening unfolds in joy and good humour until Vincent announces the baby's name. The family dinner descends into chaos and becomes the scene of a violent settling of scores.
