✦ ABOUT BOB SINCLAR ✦

Bob started out DJing when he was just 17 years old in France, and specialized in hip-hop. He then met Daft Punk Producer, Thomas Bangalter, and they quickly began to produce music together, the first single being “Gym Tonic”. From then on he headed a movement to popularize the sound knows as ‘French Touch’, which was house music sampled with filtered disco strings and French vocals.

In 2005 he produced a massive hit single “Love Generation” which shot to #1 all over the world and remained on multiple charts for up to 39 weeks. It also became one of the official anthems for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. His next single “World, Hold On” beat out Christina Aguilera and Madonna as the ‘Hottest Dance Club Play’ that same year.

He released two more albums in the coming years, ‘Sounds of Freedom’ in 2007 and ‘Born in 69’ in 2009, both albums have had major commercial success. But not as much as Bob’s latest album, entitled ‘Made in Jamaica’. This album he teams up with artists such as Shaggy to add to the reggae theme on this release. ‘Made in Jamaica’ was also nominated for ‘Best Reggae Album’ giving Sinclar his second Grammy nomination to date.

Bob Sinclar is as experimental as he is outrageous. Everything about him, from his photo shoots, to his personality; all reflect his core philosophy of fun, glamour and good times. His influence on the dance scene cannot be ignored, having hits on the underground as well as in the mainstream, which makes him the legend he is today. His career spans more than 15 years being on the dance circuit, creating new sounds and beats for himself and other DJs alike. When asked is there is a song he is most proud of he replied “There is, “World Hold On” which has the perfect combination of the emotion, of a dance track, the quality of the lyrics. Everything is there and it was all by accident! I start to create my own melody, so I learnt music, how to make beats, the arrangement, and I’m very proud of that!”

He is a living legend. That’s not just said just for effect, there are a handful of DJs that have earned their stripes by persevering in the scene since the beginning of house music and Bob Sinclar is among their number, the DJ that cemented the credibility in French house and the producer who’s inspired many DJs with hits both in the underground and mainstream. Sinclar has earned his place in dance music history.
