After their hugely successful event in collaboration with the Redbull Music Academy, when they hosted Benji B (BBC Radio 1/Deviation) and NIckodemus (Turntables On The Hudson/NYC), DUST are back with Swedish wonder-boy Mad Mats for a Friday the 13th "Slasher Special". Stockholm club scene stalwart and worldwide record impresario DJ Mad Mats endeavours started in the mid 80’s when he left his break dancing career (Swedish champ 1985!) to become a DJ in Stockholm. In 1988 during a trip to London to experience the thriving rare groove scene he opened up his music senses to leftfield rhythms and the alternative club culture. After taking an interest in producing hip hop Mats started collecting “breaks & samples” which later introduced him to the whole spectrum of black dance music. This later evolved him to entire spectrum of club culture. By day Mats is working hard with his three labels Local Talk, Basic Fingers and Raw Fusion. All have their own identity but always with a touch of Mad Mats. As a side project Mats also got a “little” finger in the mysterious little label called GAMM...hush hush ok ;). By night when Mats is not touring the world as a freestyle, house, hip hop or even techno DJ he is running the legendary Raw Fusion club in the heart of Stockholm. The club has been running strong for over 13 years with diverse guest DJs such as Theo Parrish, J-Dilla (RIP), Kerri Chandler, Peanut Butter Wolf, Gilles Peterson, Joe Claussell, Carl Craig, Jazzanova, Laurent Garnier and Karizma to name only a few. The club is still throwing parties and has become one of the most important underground club institutions in Scandinavia. Besides the Raw Fusion party Mats also runs a new house night called Unhous where he together with Tooli (24:hrs) and Jonas K delivers the best in underground house music at Stockholms hottest club venue Under Bron (Under The Bridge). Recent guest DJs includes Jimpster, Bassfort and Andreas Saag to name a few.With a DJ career running for over 25 years, we know that this open-minded b-boy has got some serious skills and have on numerous occasions been voted Sweden’s best DJ. Last time was in 2009 when he got voted number one by leading club site Clubstockholm.se where he received over 15000 votes. With a remarkable and open-minded variation he’s played everything from retro funk, soul, jazz & latin in Japan, soulful house in London, hip hop in New York, house and techno in Madrid, and freestyle sessions in Stockholm.Also performing on the night are local favourites Employees Of The Month (E.O.M.). E.O.M. is the live embodiment of U.A.E. artists Feras Ibrahim, Jibberish and Wriggly Scott. Formmerly of the group Diligent Thought, 4 years has passed since the band split to work on individual projects. E.O.M. sees the artists’ return to the live stage performing their original collective and solo productions. Widely regarded as the premier non-Arabic hip hop collective in the Middle East, E.O.M. have performed in various venues in and around the U.A.E. aswell as releasing music internationally. May 2011 saw the first commercial release by Wriggly Scott ‘Who Is Wriggly Scott?’ on Dented Records (U.K.) which received great acclaim with the lead track ‘Parts Unknown’ reaching No.1 on the U.S. College and Internet Radio Charts. In March 2012 Jibberish had his first solo release ‘Low Light Conditions’ through Kilma Studios and Co-Sign Management. Feras Ibrahim is currently working on solo projects and Sheisty Sham’s production features heavily on Low Light Conditions.
