SessionS is into it's second year all of a sudden and what better way to kick it off with the fantastic Danish DJ and producer...MIKKEL WENDELBOE www.mikkelwendelboe.dk****************************************************ikkel began his DJ career in his hometown of Aarhus, Denmark. At the tender age of 13 he was already involved with his own radio show and DJing in a youth club. It has been almost two decades since he began spinning stuff like Soul II Soul, Deelite, S'express and Beats International. His passion lead him to spent his hours after school crate digging for old soul and funk records from Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and The Commodores. Mikkel has always been known to mix genres and try to create an exiting blend in his sets. However it’s no secret that he has been greatly influenced by black music - genres such as soul, funk, jazzfunk, boogie and disco. These flavours that still pervade his sets today. In 1999 Mikkel moved to Copenhagen where he quickly went from local house parties, to a club night called “Vibes”, to being the man behind the hit club night “welovehouse”. These events brought him regularly spinning alongside prodigious talents such as Axwell, Grant Nelson, Robert Owens, Joey Negro, Can7, Claude Monnet, Martin Solveig and many others. Mikkel’s place in the top flight of Danish DJs has been reinforced by the growth of his production experience. He has remixed names such as CECE ROGERS (USB Records) and Indira Khan (Soulmagic). Recently he has been putting more of his own releases out. “Into my Life”, for instance, was released on the respected British label Reelgroove and was included on HED KANDI’s “Summer House” compilation. “Free your mind” co-produced with Sensual Soul and featuring the beautiful voice of J-sun (known for Back to love) created a buzz at WMC in Miami and has been featured on house compilations worldwide. In 2008 Morten Trust and Mikkel teamed up to run “Soulmagic” records and are now producing together under this label. This means action in the studio, a syndicated radioshow and much more. Expect to hear a lot more from Mikkel Wendelboe and the dynamic Danish label in the future.****************************************************Expect the usual SessionS mayhem!
