Russian conductor Adik Abdurakhmanov returns for the last of his two concerts with the South-Ural Symphony Orchestra at the Symphonic Middle East Festival, which is being presented by SAMIT Event Group and CMDI Group, with the kind support of the European Foundation for Support of Culture (EUFSC). For their final evening together, Abdurakhmanov and the orchestra will welcome the renowned bandoneon specialist Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi for a special evening featuring historical favorites alongside exciting contemporary works. The performance kicks off with contemporary composer Alexey Shor’s Bandoneon Concerto, a work which was written for Pietrodarchi himself, who is on a self-ascribed mission to revitalize the instrument’s fortunes in the 21st century. Next, the orchestra travels to more familiar ground, with a presentation of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Symphony No. 40, the composer’s penultimate symphony, which marked the second of a set of three symphonies that Mozart composed in the summer of 1788 and has remained one of his most popular symphonic compositions ever since. After a short intermission, the orchestra shall then return to wrap up the concert with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, written while the composer was vacationing at the sap town of Teplitz in order to improve his health. Hailed by Beethoven himself as one of his most accomplished works, the 7th Symphony was premiered in Vienna on the 8th December 1813 with Beethoven occupying the role of conductor. Opening to a raucous reception, the work has remained ever-popular among audiences and continues to occupy a prominent place within the composer’s considerable oeuvre.
