Hayk Petrosyan's "Merci Charles" project, initiated in May 2021, pays homage to Charles Aznavour through a unique jazz interpretation of his iconic songs. Accompanied by talented musicians including Vahagn Hayrapetyan, Arman Mnatsakanyan, Dave Gyodakyan, and Daniel Melkonyan, the project quickly gained popularity, hosting numerous concerts across Armenia since its inception.
It also reached international audiences with performances in Lebanon and Russia. In 2022, the project released a widely acclaimed CD titled "Le Jazz Aznavourise," later rebranded in 2023 as "French Kiss - Tribute to Charles." The evolution continued with rebranding their concert series in 2023 to "Merci Charles". Celebrating the centenary of Charles Aznavour in 2024, the project embarks on a global tour named "Tour D'amour", commencing with a grand open-air concert in Cascade, Armenia, in August. The tour, featuring the musical program "Merci Charles," promises to showcase over 20 of Aznavour's timeless songs.
Each concert, lasting one and a half hours, includes five musicians on stage: guitar and vocal, piano, drums, trumpet, and double bass. Following these Armenia concerts, the tour is set to commence in Europe in September 2024, and for the first time in the UAE, on 25th October in Dubai & 26th October 2024 in Abu Dhabi, promising a musical journey that honors the enduring legacy of Charles Aznavour worldwide.
