The Lie

The play begins with a couple, Alice and Paul. Alice is conflicted after witnessing a scene suggesting that Michelle’s husband is unfaithful. She wonders whether to tell her friend.

When she shares her concerns with Paul, he argues that truth isn’t always best, leading to a deep discussion on ethics, love, and honesty. As Michelle and her husband, Laurence, arrive for dinner, tensions rise, drawing the audience into a psychological game of deception. The characters constantly hide secrets and manipulate each other, making it unclear who is truthful and who is lying.
